Sunday 5th May – walk **** La franqui - sunny
Lazy start and another glorious day.Windy enough to go windsurfing but couldn’t face it with no gps !!! :( - yesterdays borrowed gps falled save to my card so have no speeds for the day !!! So we did exercises then after breakfast went for a wander into La Franqui. Got some bread and an English paper. Walked through the village and up onto the beautiful cliffs passing our favourite house converted from some kind of ancient lookout. Walked all the way to Laucate coast guard lookout and back. Lovely flowers and lots and lots of swifts and swallows which we now think are probably all heading north for the summer. There are literally thousands of them streaming overhead all the time. Lots of flowers and the lovely smell of the shrubs (guarigue) :) Saw a crazy bmx biker who had bounced his way miles around the rocky beach! We decided to walk back along the beach which involves having to paddle across the entrance to the etang which was fun. There were lots of windsurfers and kiters out just off the beach when we walked out but the wind had dropped and they had all gone in when we came back apart from one kiter who had to be rescued by the lifeguard boat. We got back to the van about 3 ½ hours later and had a late lunch, read and dozed then we went for a walk on a similar route to last night but there were lots more mozzis! Had a chat with an old couple in a camper van a few bays away from us. They are on their way back from spending the winter in Spain – they have been gone since September and are going back through Germany so have not finished yet.Iam hoping to find a gps in Gruissan tomorrow but we are not holding our breath !!!
